It’s officially summer, but amidst the changing COVID rules and regulations, you may be unsure of what activities you can still safely go out and do. We’ve compiled a list of things you can do in Burlington Vt, while still being conscientious of your health and safety and following the current guidelines. Read on to fill your summer with fun! 

1. Grab dinner or drinks at splash at the boathouse

This dog-friendly restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind as it’s the only restaurant in Burlington, Vt where you’re literally floating on the lake! Enjoy a frozen cocktail or one of their seafood specialties while watching the boats sail by. Tip: Make a reservation around the time the sun normally sets and you’ll get the full breathtaking experience.

COVID rules (as of 6/20): Call the day of to make a reservation. Make sure you wear a mask while walking through the inside of the restaurant and use the QR code on the table to pull up the menu on your phone. The hostess will ask for your name and a contact phone number for proper contact tracing.

 

2. Cruise on the SPIRIT OF ETHAN ALLEN

Enjoy an afternoon or evening out on Lake Champlain! The Spirit of Ethan Allen offers scenic and sunset cruises, cocktails and food can be purchased aboard. Take in the panoramic views of Lake Champlain and Vermont Mountains – just don’t forget your camera to capture it all! Avid fans of the cruises can purchase a 2020 Season Passport to access unlimited trips.

COVID rules (as of 6/20): Pay in advance online or over the phone. Boarding takes place 15 minutes before the start of the tour, on a first-come-first-serve basis. The areas of the ship will be coded by color. Each area will be boarded at once while adhering to social distancing guidelines. The ship capacity is limited to 40 passengers (from the original 200) and each group must remain in the area of the ship they are assigned. All customers must wear a mask while on board. 

 

3. bike THE Burlington, vt greenway (bike Path)

With eight miles of paved paths, the Burlington, Vt greenway is an incredible trail that runs along the shoreline, offering wonderful views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains. It connects Burlington at Oakledge Park to the Winooski River and the bike path bridge to the Colchester Bike Path.

COVID rules (as of 6/20): Practice safe social distancing and remain 6 feet apart. 

 

4. soak up THE sun at north beach

 North Beach

Located on the shore of Lake Champlain next to the Burlington Bike Path, North Beach is a perfect place to take a dip in the water or just relax on the sand. With a grassy picnic area and grills, you can either bring your own picnic or bring hot dogs or hamburgers to grill up!

COVID rules (as of 6/20): Due to COVID-19, the campground is closed to the public. Use alternate routes to access North Beach. See the map.

 

5. hike at rock point

Rock Point offers over two miles of walking and hiking trails and 130 acres of privately owned land along the shores of Lake Champlain, available for public use (must follow guidelines and obtain a free pass here). If you’re looking for a more rigorous activity – you can also rock climb at Lone Rock Point, a limestone craig less than 1 mile from downtown Burlington (advanced climbers only). Visitors are encouraged to make a voluntary donation toward the protection of this special place.

COVID rules (as of 6/20): Must follow alternative parking guidelines. Follow “arrive, play, and leave” guidelines. Use of trails is limited to Vermonters or to those who have met the 14-day quarantine requirement. No contact sports or games. There are no public restrooms at this time.
